3 Hot Tips for Networking at Your Next Podcast Event

In one of the latest posts over on The Podcast Digest, I shared a list of some of the top podcast events still to take place in 2024. (That list is linked below! 🤩)

We LOVE events here at We Edit Podcasts. And we are particularly fond of podcast events. (For obvious reasons.)

Now, if you love events too, but are a little apprehensive (read terrified) of the networking that goes along with these events, we've got you covered!

As an introvert, for me, I used to be pretty "apprehensive" of networking, too!

I love building those connections that develop from said networking. But it’s girding up the courage to initiate those conversations that used to have me being like Homer Simpson over here. 👇

But that’s all changed! Thanks to a sneakily simple🤫 game plan! And I’m breaking it down for you today! (I know, not all heroes wear capes. 😜)

So, here are my top tips for de-scary-fying (totally a real word) networking and getting it to really work for you! (Especially if you’re an introvert!)

#1 Lay A Foundation

Step 1, I try to genuinely connect online with at least one person who I know will be at the event. That way, when you get to the event, you already “know somebody” who you’re excited to see. You get a great conversation rolling from the get-go, you break the ice, and the next conversations happen so much easier! 💥

#2 Lean Into You

Tip Number 2 - give yourself a little pep talk before you attend the event. Remind yourself of all you bring to the table, of your strengths, and all YOU have to offer. Embrace all that makes you you, and let that fuel your confidence. Most importantly, NEVER let Imposter Syndrome join you at an event! (Pretty sure he didn’t buy a ticket so he definitely shouldn't be coming along!😜)

#3 Let It Go!

Apologies in advance…”that song” will, of course, be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. But if it helps you remember to let the fear go and just enjoy the event, then, honestly, I'm not even sorry! 🫢 Because events are supposed to be fun! And networking should be fun, too! After all, you’re getting to connect and forge relationships with people who love the same things you do!
