All Podcasts Need Editing

Okay, so perhaps we're opening up this week's newsletter with a bit of a 🔥hot take🔥. But it's one I stand by 150%.

ALL podcasts need editing!

But first, a disclaimer. I’m NOT talking about audio editing.

Cutting awkward pauses, coughs, and excessive filler words (you know, those pesky little “ums,” “ahs,” and “likes” that have taken up permanent residence in our speech habits! 🫣) – this is a non-negotiable when it comes to producing a high-quality podcast.

This kind of editing will ALWAYS be necessary for a smooth listening experience.

Remember, podcasts are all about sound. If your audio quality is subpar, your listeners won’t be sticking around. (Tough truth 🥊 but truth nonetheless.)

What I’m talking about today is content editing – removing those unnecessary chunks of audio that water down the value of your episodes.

And it’s this kind of editing that takes a podcast from good to great.
